Ten things that marked 2014 in #Lebanon

Published by on December 24th, 2014

Merely a week and another year will be scratched off our lives with all of its sorrows and laughter, and this has by far been an eventfully packed year.

Here below the TOP 10 #lebanese 2014 year in review

.

10. In tenth place, the world cup fever.  Flags, groups, horns, parades, it was beautiful and worth to relive every moment of it. (Except for the 7-1 night to forget)

  .

.

9. At number 9, is Mr. Hashtag Fifo. Like him or hate him this guy has set a trend worldwide for his audacity. He’s funny, and it’s new and reciting one of his best quotes

“مش كل مين طعماني موزة … صار زوجي … هاشتاغ “زحِط

.

8. The Selfie mania has evolved throughout this year. Mostly talked about were harriri selfies when he surprisingly returned for a week, Ragheb selfie in Sabah funeral, and of course Myriam Klink “accidental” string selfie.

 .

.

7. In 7th place, the Syrian refugees saga. Their number has surely surpassed any expectation and has caused a great economical impact on the country. While some are rightfully in need of help, the absence of organization has led to a lot of debates regarding this situation.

.

6. Almost every year, the lebanese are doomed to be hit with tragic events. This year we witnessed the sad Arsal events that led to the kidnapping of soldiers. The faces of the parents that are still wandering the streets and their cause to free their sons is one of the painful memories of Lebanon in 2014.

 .

5. Perhaps the ones that managed to beat Gebran Bassil with more interviews are none but the duo Hanna Gharib / Nehme Mahfoud who come in at position 5. They have sure marked the year of students throughout their fight for the teachers’ rights.

.

4. At number 4, is our newly acclaimed RECORD. We managed to break records in Tabouleh, and lemonade; we also did outperform all others in time to form a cabinet with “10 month Tamam Salam labor”, and this year we did it again with Presidency elections and Parliament second extension. We sure do take DEMOCRACY to a whole new level.

TILL DATE 7 MONTHS WITHOUT A PRESIDENT

.

3. In third position of our year in review, this has to be the year of losses of the Greats. Unique in their presence and influence, Sabah and Said Akel will always be remembered. it will take another world in another dimension to bring back the likes of them. Worldwide the losses were no less with Robin WILLIAMS, Joe COCKER, HOFFMAN, RIVERS and many more

.

2. In the runner up seat, the “first ever” minister to actually set up the bar high in “how things should be done”. wael abou faour campaign for food safety was definitely unanimously applauded by people. It was a first in a rusty country full of corruption and “mahsoubiyet”

.

1. And in pole position, without any hesitation the most talked about event was MP joumblat joining #twitter.  He’s active, he’s true, frank, honest, and DARING

He’s modest , he’s wise, he’s influential, he’s Walid Beik and Let’s hope he keeps it up.

.

Wrapping up, It is of man’s nature to wish for the best and look forward to brighter days to come. However, the situation in #Lebanon did nothing but deteriorate over the past 10 years. In all cases, we are here and we will remain and like many have highlighted
